The Library of the Academy is one of the oldest institutions of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. It was founded in the early eighteenth century, at the same time as the Society of Sciences of the Elector of Brandenburg. It has a unique collection of manuscripts compiled from national and international academies since 1700. The Library still regards this collection and its accessibility to the public as one of its central tasks. Another objective of the Library is to provide Academy projects and research groups with whatever electronic and printed media they require. Since 2006, the Academy’s electronic publications are available online, free of charge via an e-doc-server.
